Casa degli Esploratori

A launchpad for excellence and talent

The 'Casa degli Esploratori' (House of Explorers) project, originally curated by the Gaetano Osculati Cultural Association in collaboration with public and private partners, is inspired by 'L'Esploratore' (The Explorer): Italy's first foreign affairs newspaper, originally published in Milan by geographer Manfredo Camperio between 1877 and 1896.

After moving to La Santa (now Villasanta)—a municipality in the Brianza area where a family collection of significant historical value is still preserved today—Camperio decided to build upon the insights of explorer Gaetano Osculati. Between 1846 and 1848, the naturalist from Brianza had explored the wild region of the Napo and Amazon Rivers, providing crucial information for the development of new commercial activities and partnerships.

L'Esploratore' was therefore born to present the opportunities linked to so-called 'Commercial Geography', identifying new markets for trade and development for our country. It became the leading Italian press organ dedicated to this field.

Today, its legacy lives on through the 'Casa degli Esploratori' project—a launchpad designed to showcase Italian excellence and talent, while creating economic synergies across the sectors of communication, culture, tourism, commerce, and education.
